Reno@Buangkok - Final Bathroom Photos!!
Our Reno@ Buangkok is near its tail end and the young couple is moving in this weekend. This post is just on their bathrooms. Both bathrooms have a feature wall tile at the shower alcove area. The vanity countertop is finished in the super thin kompacplus top. The master bath has a dark walnut countertop while the common bath has a lighter wood grain. However we can't take a photo of the common vanity top as it will only be installed end of June. The taps will be installed tomorrow but I can't wait till tomorrow so here are the photos!
So enough talk and let the photos do the talking.

Reno@Buangkok - Bedhead with integrated switches and drawers
Here's a pretty bedhead which we designed for the couple with integrated powerpoints (hidden in the flip up panel), data point by the side and drawers on both sides of the bed.
Close up frontal view of the bedhead - flip up panel, data point by the side and drawers
Zoom in on the flip up panel, when using the powerpoints, you don't have to keep the panel open as there's a slit for the wires to come through. And this little slit is covered by a layer of black brush.

Reno@Buangkok - Wardrobe and Study Room
One of the room which was adjacent to the master was converted to a wardrobe and study room.
So here's the final look of it...really pretty huh!
The couple opted for a woody grain study top and open shelves for the study area. The rest of the cupboards were kept white. The wardrobe is finished with exposed wood grain border all around and the door panels were kept the simple white. To keep the whole apartment in a consistent look, there was only 2 wood laminates which was chosen, the rest were finished in all white.
Enjoy!

Reno@Sembawang - subway tiles ON THE WAY!
Today we dropped by to discuss the carpentry works in detail to the carpenter who also came down to do the site measurements before the work can begin.
The flat is almost completed now leaving the subway tile in progress for the kitchen area. The paint colours have been chosen, the selection of the laminates for the carpentry is almost there too. So it's just leaving some minor details which we will need to finalise again with the couple before we confirm the carpentry again with the carpenter.
stay tune for its final looks!

Reno@Geylang - Bathroom wall tiles up!
We hit into a slight road block last week as the HDB floorplan was inaccurate. Hence some last minute tweaking of the floorplan design before we resubmit in again for HDB to approve the wall hacking works. So this week, the progess has been abit slow but nonetheless, the wall tiles for both bathrooms are up!
and the great news is...HDB has approved our hacking permit!!!
SO hacking resumes this Friday and all the way till next Tuesday! YIPPEE!
The master bathroom (parents) has a very subtle and 'quiet' countenance as compared to the common bathroom. The common bath feature wall is like a dark knight in shiny armour. An oxidised metallic looking tile that fits the industrial and modern looking theme (IMHO).
shucks. i think maybe we could have been a little braver. a little bolder and had the full bathroom in corroded metallic tiles.

The House of Beams
This is my second visit to our reno at Bukit Timah and I must say I'm falling in love with their staircase! We like to think of this special apartment as the House of Beams because it's actually quite challenging designing the entire ceiling space with little or no false ceiling; to achieve maximum ceiling height where possible.
It becomes even more challenging with the many different depths of beams running across the entire apartment, and the need to locate suitable areas to place the ceiling fan and lights.
quirky corner. The beige looking thing under the beam is a secondary beam. Not a box up. So we can't remove that either.

Reno@Bishan Maisonette - Almost there now
Most of the carpentry is up now and the existing railing has been removed. The formwork for the new glass railing is up with the integrated lights. The threads have been sand down and varnished. Although the whole place is still in somewhat a mess but most of the works have been completed. The glazing works are also on site and some have been installed over the week.
closer look at the staircase curb. See the little circular holes by the side? They are for the lights.
Storage area under the stairs. We are going to have some simple cupboards under the stairs. And because the staircase width is rather deep, it will be quite difficult to access the storage items if we were to do the cupboards all the way in. So we are having the cupboards done at only half the depth so that there's still another "store room" behind the cupboards to store bulky items which you don't need to take very often. Here's another view which shows the cupboards on the "outside" and the hidden storeroom behind the cupboards on the inside.
The TV feature wall is up too!
close look at the laminate for the tv console - pretty wood grains here!
Glass sliding door in the kitchen
switches are in too!

DIY - Concrete Plant Pot
Hi there.
it's me updating on my latest craze material for my DIY projects- concrete!
This week I'm doing a concrete plant pot using my detergent bottle as the base mould and my son's favourite Meiji yoghurt cups for the indents. Here's how.
you will need:
1. one large mould for the base. For this I'm using my dynamo detergent. Cut the bottom, leaving about 6 inches thick.
2. yoghurt cups. Or any other cups. Some folks online uses their children's playdoh cups. I'll use anything as long as they are bigger than the tealight candle's base.
3. pot for stirring concrete mix
4. stick to stir the concrete mix
after 4 days of drying, hubs had to use pliers to pry open the mould. no easy feat. the plastic was damn tough. And the succulents are from IKEA. $2.90 per pot.
thanks for dropping by my concrete DIY project
and
hope your Monday went well!

Reno@Toh Yi Maisonette - Carpentry starts today!
it's a party here!!!
Early morning, the whole works (carpentry) was delivered on site at the void deck area and it took the workers the whole morning to shift all the carpentry up to the maisonette before they all break for lunch. So we visited them after lunch and everyone is here! - contractor, 2 gangs of carpenters who are going camp here for the week to do the kitchen and bedrooms, electrician, the glass subtrades and US. WOOHOO!
glazing works - starting installation today too. Look at the many panels of glass laid against the wall. And that's not all. There are some more at the front of the flat!
