V: This photo here is for you! Here's how it looks..
the package comes with 2 stickers to pull the backing away from the sticker
now you can "tear" the backing away from the sticker. I tried to do without the 2 stickers and couldn't!!
i used an old photo album to press the sticker down and to spread the "bubbles" out

here are some of the finished photos after this little DIY is done.
Hope you all like it!

Stirling HDB Terrace - DIY Cafe Curtain

it's the weekend again. And this week, I'm doing a little adjustment to my study corner.
I've been meaning to do this for the longest time since I last went to Hokkaido in February. It was then that i chanced upon this little cafe that had the cutest lace curtain by the window. And you know what?
My fave $2 Daiso is selling these curtains!!!

This is a super easy DIY. In fact, it's not much of a DIY i would say because all you need to do is to just buy the items and put them up yourself.

Easy like a sneeze!
here is the Cafe Curtain from Daiso. I've chosen a "flower" print.
The curtain rack I bought from Japan Home because Daiso didn't have the length i needed.
here's how it looks now after putting up the rack and curtain.

here's a view when i sit down by my study desk.
I get a partial view of my planter and stairway.
sigh.
i think it's so romantic!!!

i think i shall go get a cup of hot strawberry tea and sit by my window now.

my son's dinosaur is in need of some campbell soup!
Yes! I'm a closeted Andy Warhol fan!!!
I have a campbell tee designed by Andy Warhol where i wear it at home and nobody knows and I almost bought a campbell soup poster from the MOMA shop years ago but resisted because it was pricey.

I may not be like iron lady chef who is going to own a pair of campbell soup lamp shades but now i have another campbell soup collectible and that is a cushion!!!

ps: you might be wondering why i'm doing so many felt flowers. it's because my colleague was asking me what i can do with my fingers for her up and coming fund raising program where she needs to sell things to raise money. So i said I can do felt flowers into pins, brooches, hairbands etc!

I'm just doing a dozen for try outs. Not sure whether will it sell.

DIY Felt Flowers - Pom Pom types

There are quite a few felt flower designs out there. So i'm just going to call this the Pom Pom types.
I've done 3 different designs so far and today's one is just on the Pom Pom ones.
step 1: Things that you will need - glue, scissors, felt and some clips. I'm using mini clothes pegs.

step 2: cut the felt into 30cm long by 4cm wide , fold it along the long side into half and glue the long open ends.
Clip/Peg the sides as you don't want to spend your time pressing on to it while it dries.
Meantime you can cut another piece of 30x4cm felt for another flower.
step 3: once the glue has dried on the sides, snip at the folded edge.
step 4: here's a clearer picture...you will start to see the "pom pom" frills appear now.
step 5: once you have snipped along the entire 30cm length, apply glue on the un-snipped portion as shown in the photo and rolled it tightly like a ball from left to right along the glue area (or right to left, any direction is fine).
step 6: Voila. Pom Pom Felt flowers.
Are you all set to do some felt flowers now?

DIY Felt Flower Hair Clip

Finally I managed to find some time and did some "backing" for the felt flower hair clips.  Now they looked more "presentable" at the fun fair charity raising program.

i do hope they will sell well.
My colleague was asking how much do i want to sell it for, then i went "erm, $1 for one?"
My colleague went "siao ah! all the effort and time!! No lah!"
Then i went "ok, up to you then."

hmm.
i think i will only buy it for $1 a piece cos I can make them myself!!!

don't you think so?
How much will you spend on a hair clip?

Reno@Hougang Maisonette - How the debris is being removed

Hacking works started yesterday after the floor hacking permit was approved. So this was the debris which was collected from yesterday's hacking.
The dump truck is here to collect the pile of debris. A worker is on standby mode.
The worker then cautions the driver to reverse and he hooks a big hook from the truck to the container full of debris.
The truck then pulls the container up.
and lifts it onto its back like a haversack!
and it is all ready to go!

and we have gotten our permit for hacking the walls downstairs today!!!
YAY!

Reno@Hougang Maisonette - Tiles selection

Iron lady chef was very decisive with her choice of tiles this afternoon.
Obviously she knows what she wants and what goes with what, no doubt about that.

I personally think the overall palette of her choice of tiles is very pleasant.
The tiles chosen are simple, the right texture/colour and even to the point of being understated - which i think it's a good thing because it will then bring out her furniture, kitchen, feature lamps and the soft furnishes.

Just the other day she was showing me a bunch of photos of all her buys from mouse towel handles, squirrel door stopper, woodpecker door knocker etc etc. Many were animals related!!!
I immediately thought of Noah's Ark.

here are some of the closer look photos of the tiles selection

Rem the accent wall tiles which i mentioned earlier in my previous post?
Iron Lady Chef's idea was to have them at the bathroom area.
So we did a rendering for her to see. I think the overall look is quite refreshing!

DIY Felt Flower Tutorial - Dahlia Felt Flower

There are loads of felt flower design tutorials out there and I happen to chanced on one that totally inspired me to do the exact same flower for my mum!
So here goes.
step 1: you will need glue, scissors, pinking shears, felt and cardboard.
step 2:
cut a 3inch diameter circle of felt and a 2inch dimeter circle of cardboard.
next cut 1 long piece of 1.5inch thick, 1.25inch thick and 1inch thick separately
Then you will need to wrap your cardboard with your 3inch circle felt.
step 3:
cut them into squares. So now you have 1.5inch , 1.25inch and 1inch squares.
You will need approx 15 1.5inch squares, 13 1.25inch squares and 9 1inch squares.
Cut each square into a petal shape as shown in the photo.
step 4
put glue on both ends of the base of the petal and fold it into half.
Let it dry.
Do this for all your petals.
 Step 5
Array your 1.5inch petals first on the cardboard felt.
Stick about 1cm of the tip of the petal on the cardboard.
Once you have finished gluing the first layer of petals, repeat the steps for 1.25inch and 1inch petals.
step 6:
you should have a flower like this now
step 7:
use your pinking shears to cut a thin strip as shown above and roll it tightly into something like a cinnamon bun.
step 8:
Stick the piece of felt into the centre of the flower.
 step 9:
your DIY Dahlia Felt Flower should look like this!

and here are some photos of my son playing with the felt flower.
enjoy!
